Desert Blooms: Dinner Party Edition

Ask any of our friends, we seriously love a good dinner party. We will find ANY excuse to host one.

We’ve just recently finished the last season of Breaking Bad (hello addiction) and we’ve been inspired by New Mexico and the Southwestern cuisine because of it. So what better way to celebrate Walter White than throw a dinner party in his honor. We just hope he won’t be offended when we don’t offer our guests his blue meth.

We started with the table décor, we find that once we’ve narrowed that down we have more inspiration towards the food being served. Succulents are all the rage right now but we liked the idea of incorporating cactuses as well. Just make sure the guests know not to touch the things ok, we don’t want anyone to cry during the dinner party.

Menu selection can be tedious, there are so many recipes out there and Pinterest doesn’t make it any easier. We wanted something light since it’s summer and bikini season, and well we didn’t want our friends to kill us if we served fried chicken and cornbread.

Desert Bloom Menu

Bourbon Renewel

Insiders Tip: The gorgeous man we’re seeing gave us this recipe and its delicious, just like him.

Fried Plantains with Mint & Garlic Sauce

Quinoa Salad with Lime & Cilantro Vinaigrette

Roasted Asparagus

Southwestern Scallops

Grilled Peach Kabobs with Cinnamon

Insiders Tip: Miss Martha calls for plums but we felt peaches worked better with this particular menu. Sprinkle a little cinnamon on them before you put on the grill as well, SO good.

In addition to the cocktails we would serve a Sauvignon Blanc with dinner. We prefer Sauv Blanc from Marlborough, New Zealand. It never disappoints.

Enjoy loves!
