One of my favorite looks is a gingham or plaid shirt, a crew neck sweater and a huge statement necklace. Unfortunately for me I have trouble with this style because of two large issues on my chest – buttons are my mortal enemy. However, if purchased in a larger size, tailored and utilizing double sided fashion tape there is a way to pull this off. Best paired with dark skinny jeans and cute flats this look can easily transition from office to night with a flick of lipstick and a pair of pumps. It’s pulled together, chic and classic. Below are some of my favorite of the three pieces!
Look #1
Merino Wool Tippi Sweater, Heather Silver | J.Crew
Day Tripper Necklace, Coral | Kate Spade
Plaid Girlfriend Shirt, Blue | American Eagle
Look #2
Merino Cotton Tunic Sweater, Atlantic White | J.Crew
Harlow Necklace, Black Iridescent | Kendra Scott
Fitted Bold Stripe Shirt, Blue Sunrise | Banana Republic
Look #3
Tilly Sweater, Black | J.Crew
Heartbreaker Necklace, Champagne | Bauble Bar
Long Sleeve Plaid Blouse, Red/Navy | Nordstrom
Sexy without being slutty. Have you seen Alfred Hitchcock’s “The Birds”? Leading lady Tippy Hedren is classy and very feminine yet she never shows any skin other than from the knee down.
You know I’ve never seen that movie – I’ve always meant too though. That’s one of the things I absolutely love about how they used to dress back in the day. It oozed sex appeal without showing much skin at all – I wish we’d go back to that!
I really recommend it. Also because she is an actual heroine. She takes charge, makes decisions, etc. She doesn’t need a man to save her (until after they kiss :-p) as opposed to modern day “heroines”. And the fashion is just awesome too!!
Thanks for the recommendation! Sounds awesome – I’ll try to watch it this weekend!
Let me know what you think 😉

Having read this I thought it was extremely enlightening.
I appreciate you finding the time and effort to put this article together.
I once again find myself spending way too much time both
reading and commenting. But so what, it was
still worth it!
So glad you enjoyed it! It’s always fun trying different combinations of things but yes also time consuming – happy to help in anyway. Happy shopping!
